Moon Poems

Who scattered pearls

On the grass

This moist, moonlit might?

Along the river

Moonlight rides

On the backs

Of silver salmon.

As I sit still

Under the cold November moon,

Tears glisten in my lap.

The true nature

Of the full moon?

His wide grin

Hurts my face.

The bright moonlight

On the soft snow

Seems real.

The full moon

And me,

Face to face,

In the icy night air.

Overhead, the thunder

Of a thousand geese.

The dark wet fields

Stretch to the horizon.
