Amid those crazy cats

Amongst the cats I sit

Outnumbered I used my wit

A quick spray from a bottle of cat nip

While occupied I gave them the slip

They have no skills like my dog

Letting my trail go cold

The scents of my footsteps fade

Thinking to myself I got away

It was a false sense of security

They circled me like a tribe

Aroused by the cat nip

I'm in for a horrible surprise

I head for the door to get away

One crosses my path wanting to play

A slight hiss and a swat that missed

Now I realized that they are all pissed

So I throw toys around like Santa Claus

But I don’t chant ho-ho-ho

I scream go-go-go

From sharpened claws my blood begins to flow

I screamed for man's best friend

But he does not rescue me from my sins

To think he is scared of a few cats

From this point my respect he lacks

From crazy glazed eyes I received their stares

Upon my neck stood my hair

Most days independent they lay

But I'm not so lucky this day

I stop to compose my thoughts

To plan my escape while they plot

With no direct eye contact to stir

I start to move

When I notice a few missing from the herd

Upon the top shelf one sits for a view

Below the table one hides but I knew

Behind the T.V. two plan their play

I pet my favorite for a compromise

But he is too smart to stay

So I jumped high to cause a surprise

Meowing as they sailed through the sky

Like ninja experts they tore my flesh

My body falls lifeless to rest

No longer do I sit amongst the cats

But became a toy that they like to scratch

They never gave it a thought

The joke is on them

The food they ate I bought
